MIZUNO ~Toybox Déco~  Sneaker Customisation Workshop by Eve Asami

Art direction, graphic, footwear, spacial & experiential design
for MIZUNO

On March 2026, I was invited by the sportswear brand MIZUNO to host a sneaker customisation workshop in their Japanese flagship stores.
The purpose of the event being to cultivate new womens' customer basis, I developed a concept around decorating the high-tech shoes with unique pieces of vintage accessories, combining tradition with innovation as per MIZUNO's philosophy.

Namely "Toybox Deco", I designed the overall visual language and footwear to appeal specifically to the generation of girls who grew up under the Japanese Y2K culture of DIY decorating their belongings, while still being relatable and accessible to a wider audience.

Day 1 - MIZUNO Osaka Chayamachi

Day 2 - MIZUNO SHOP Nagoya PARCO

The event met with great response, drawing customers from all age groups centered around young women. The customisation design was flexible enough to fit to each participants' taste and resulted in one-of-a-kind pairs packed with their favorite charms, like a heart-enchanting toybox. The vibrant colours of displays created a lively atmosphere in their sportswear stores and attracted attention of customers and passersby, meeting MIZUNO's original objective of expanding their brand image to new female audience.
